Abstract
This report presents an overview of fertilizer statistics in Malawi from 2016 to 2021, focusing on 2021. The analysis is based on official trade data from the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and validated by the Fertilizer Technical Working Group – Malawi (FTWG-MWI). The data covers various aspects of fertilizer production, import, origin, use, export, and apparent consumption. Key findings include the dominance of imported fertilizers, the role of blending companies, and the impact of government subsidy programs on demand. The report also highlights the main fertilizer types and their applications in Malawi's agriculture.
